kaduna State is gradually joining the growing list of States in Nigeria where peace is becoming a scarce commodity, as gunmen burn their victims in Janruwa community, Maganda district in Birnin Gwari local government area.
The scary style of attack saw the attackers kill and burn 14 persons beyond recognition. Just yesterday, hoodlums disrupted a political meeting, injuring everyone in sight as they rained terror on the NUT End Well Hotel in Kaduna, venue of the meeting.
The terrifying incident occurred around 1pm on Saturday. The coordinated attack saw the gunmen open fire from different directions on the helpless victims, most of whom are said to be local miners.
The witness said, “Some of those killed were said to have been burnt beyond recognition. In a cruel and inhuman manner, the bandits burnt many of their victims beyond recognition.”
One of the residents said Birnin Gwari is under siege by armed bandits.The resident said, “We are living in perpetual fear. We cannot go to the market or farms, we are not safe in our home. We are once again under siege and we need urgent intervention by both state and the federal government.”
It was gathered that seven corpses were taken to the morgue at the Jibril Maigwari General Hospital Birnin Gwari, while others were buried on the same day according to Islamic injunctions.
The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Austin Iwar, while confirming the incident said 10 persons were killed while 13 others were injured.Thirteen people who sustained injuries from gunshots were said to have been taken to a hospital in Kaduna.
